Maintaining your children’s oral health is essential, but sometimes it might seem like a chore.  Fortunately, nowadays you can use technology to make it easier and more convenient.  I’m not just talking about electric toothbrushes and other gadgets here, either.  Did you know that an iPad can help your kids with their oral health?  It’s all about finding the right apps.  Let’s take a look at some of these useful iPad apps for kids’ oral health.

First, there is Kids’ Dental Health, sold by Alexandr Stacanov and available from the Apple store here:  itunes.apple.com/us/app/id511752516?mt=8.  Kids’ Dental Health is an educational interactive book helps parents teach their children in a fun and entertaining way all about the essentials of oral hygiene.  Kids will love the heroes and storylines, as well as the mini-games and secret sounds on every page.  More importantly, this app was developed by parents using information from dental experts, so you know it will benefit your children’s oral health.

Next, there is StarTeeth, sold by Fungamental Labs and available from the Apple store here:  itunes.apple.com/sa/app/starteeth/id402394875?mt=8.  The StarTeeth application turns the daily chore of brushing into fun while teaching your children how to clean their teeth properly.  Each and every day, a new “brushing buddy” will motivate and assist your child with his brushing routine.  Kids can vote for their favorite brushing buddies and use the app’s detailed teeth cleaning instructions to help ensure that they are brushing properly.

When it’s time for your kids to brush, they can use the iPad app called Time2Brush.  This app is sold by Brunner Inc. and is available from the Apple store here:  itunes.apple.com/us/app/time2brush/id389161454?mt=8.  Aimed at children under the age of seven, Time2Brush starts off the child’s brushing routine with a pea-sized squirt of toothpaste called a “Nurdle,” along with specific directions on how to best brush all parts of the child’s teeth.  Then a timer counts down for two minutes while a catchy song plays.  For every brushing the child completes, he or she earns points that can be used to customize his or her Nurdle.  It’s lots of fun and helps get the brushing done!

If you want an iPad app that both kids and grown-ups can enjoy, you can try Brush DJ.  This app is sold by Benjamin Underwood and is available from the Apple store here:  itunes.apple.com/us/app/brush-dj/id475739913?mt=8.  Brush DJ makes brushing fun and more effective by playing two minutes of music taken at random from your device’s music library, while also providing a visual display showing where to brush.  Not only that, but it also allows you to set reminders to brush at least twice a day, change your toothbrush head every three months, and more.  Brush DJ will help you to rediscover your music collection while keeping your teeth and gums healthy!
